Tracklist

The first single "Let Me Show Ya" is out now, so it's about time we give this album a proper release post. Six years after the masterpiece "In Between" the Berlin 6 are back. It's promising to be quite a bit different this time though. The album is mostly recorded live and all sources point to a more organic, song-based approach. Strings in particular will feature heavily, taking it one step further than their "Belle Et Fou" project.

Guests however are just as plenty as last time. Confirmed so far are Dwele, Ben Westbeech, José James, Paul Randolph, Phonte, Joe Dukie, Bembe Segue, Azymuth, Five Corners Quintet, Clara Hill, Paul Kleber and Marcos Valle. There will be a live tour as well, which marks the first time Jazzanova enters the stage.

So far, only a couple of songs have leaked into dj sets and radioshows. We'll let you know when we know more... And you should never judge a book by its cover, but that is one hell of an ugly sleeve!

here the missing featured artists:

1 Look What You're Doin' To Me ( ft. Phonte)
2 Let Me Show Ya ( ft.Paul Randolph )
3 I Can See (ft. Ben Westbeech)
4 Lie ( ft. Thief)
5 Little Bird (ft. José James)
6 Rockin' You Eternally (ft. Leon Ware & Dwele)
7 So Far From Home (ft. Phonte)
8 What Do You Want? (ft. Joe Dukie)
9 Lucky Girl (ft. Paul Randolph)
10 Gafiera (ft. Azymuth & Pedro Martins (aka Bazeado))
11 Morning Scapes (ft. Bembe Segue)
12 Dial A Cliché (ft. Paul Randolph)

-the five corner's track will be featured as bonus track as far as i know..
-though "rockin' you eternally" is co-written by marcos valle, he will not be featured on "of all the things"..
-clara hill is not involved as a lead singer/lyricist, but as background-singer on 3 tracks.
-indeed all accoustic bass parts where played by paul kleber (bassist of micatone & the sk orchester) except for the bonus track recorded with the 5 corners... but the list of involved musicians is endless anyway.. approx. 60 musicians i counted.
- btw "the time is now" is not an official j-nova track, although members of j-nova where involved in producing this tune.. dunno if it'll be released under a different alias in the future??

also some news, the japanese bonus track seems to be the henrik schwarz remix of "let me show ya". so this five corners quintet tune must be on this "deluxe limited edition" that amazon.de has listed? unless it's one of those infernal itunes bonus tracks that's region specific. grrrrr...

anyways, here's the proof of that edition:
http://www.amazon.de/All-Things-Ltd-Deluxe-Edt/dp/B001EL2CBO/

btw, what is special about this edition if so. and yes, i'm in complete agreement. what's up with the artwork? it's so hurting to the eyes... and specifically just looks appalling to the quality of music inside. it also kind of disrespects some of the big rules of graphic design: font usage and when. i have a feeling it wasn't jazzanova's idea too because they do actually have a great resource of good graphic designers there in berlin. darn you universal!

i must say though "let me show ya" is great! a well needed boot to the minimal monotony. and i remember hearing some sort of version that was more house-oriented or something, so hearing this classic soul approach was just magic to my ears.

oh yeah, is that dial a cliché a remake of the classic morrissey song??? that sounds like it would be interesting and with paul randolph singing it???

I believe that song is a Morrissey cover, opSN--someone had mentioned it was a cover in some other thread many months back.

Thanks for all the great info, ElChupanebre. Do share with us more about the limited edition and if there will be any differences in the actual packaging amongst all the different versions, if you get a chance.

regarding the artwork:
It's done by the HORT (www.hort.org.uk) design agency which are very well know for some really good artwork like the stuff for Bookashade. But I agree. This artwork is the worst i seen since a while. I dont understand why anyone picked that. Especially for a long awaited high-quality release like this. I have the feeling that nobody at the agency had any idea about jazzanova or the musical philosophy here ... it's a shame ...

checked their portfolio, they got kooler things than this cover. I am not a cover snob at all, but this one does need a redesign in the last min asap.

well, i remember the vinyl package for their first remix collection was worse. not that i'm fond of pastel new-rave style icon_wink.gif

Can there realistically be a last minute cover change at this point or would copies already have been printed? I'm fantastically confounded by this cover art.
